Come vi avevo annunciato qualche giorno fa, ogni lunedì vi proporrò delle idee su come rifinire i vostri lavori a puntocroce. 

Sarà un tentativo per capire se ci sarà interesse da parte vostra…

CUSCINO DECORATIVO

 Un'idea interessante per rifinire un ricamo a punto croce di 30 x 30 cm potrebbe essere quella di trasformarlo in un cuscino decorativo 40 x 40 cm. Ecco una descrizione dettagliata del processo di confezionamento:

MATERIALI NECESSARI

- Ricamo a punto croce di 30 x 30 cm più margine stoffa (42 x 42 cm)

- Tessuto coordinato per il retro del cuscino (circa 42 x 42 cm)

- Imbottitura per cuscino (cuscino interno)

- Cerniera (circa 30 cm)

- Forbici da tessuto

- Spilli

- Macchina da cucire (o ago e filo se preferisci cucire a mano)

- Ferro da stiro

PASSAGGI DETTAGLIATI

1. **Preparazione del Ricamo**

   - Lava e stira il ricamo a punto croce per assicurarti che sia pulito e senza pieghe.

2. **Taglio del Tessuto**

   - Taglia il tessuto coordinato per il retro del cuscino in un quadrato di 42 x 42 cm. Questo ti darà un margine di cucitura di 6 cm su ogni lato.

   

3. **Cucitura della Cerniera**

   - Posiziona la cerniera sul lato inferiore del ricamo, con i denti rivolti verso il basso e allineata con il bordo del tessuto. Fissa la cerniera con gli spilli.

   - Cucila a macchina o a mano, lungo entrambi i lati della cerniera,  assicurandoti che sia ben fissata.

(Piccola astuzia, io marco sempre sia il centro dei tessuti e della cerniera e poi li faccio combaciare😉)

4. **Assemblaggio del Cuscino**

   - Posiziona il ricamo e il tessuto per il retro del cuscino con i lati diritti rivolti verso l'interno, in modo che la cerniera sia allineata con il bordo inferiore.

   - Spilla i lati del cuscino insieme, lasciando la cerniera aperta a metà per poter girare il cuscino una volta cucito.

5. **Cucitura dei Bordi**

   - Cuci i tre lati rimanenti del cuscino (sinistro, superiore e destro) con un margine di cucitura di 1 cm. Usa punti dritti e rinforza gli angoli passando due volte.

   - Taglia via l'eccesso di tessuto agli angoli per ridurre l'ingombro.

6. **Rifinitura e Riempimento**

   - Gira il cuscino sul lato diritto attraverso l'apertura della cerniera.

   - Inserisci l'imbottitura o il cuscino interno attraverso la cerniera aperta, assicurandoti che si adatti bene agli angoli.

7. **Stiratura Finale**

   - Stiralo leggermente per eliminare eventuali pieghe e dare un aspetto pulito e professionale.

CONSIGLI FINALI

- **Decorazioni Supplementari:** Puoi aggiungere nastri, pizzi o altri elementi decorativi attorno al bordo del ricamo per un tocco personale in più.

- **Coordinamento dei Colori:** Scegli un tessuto per il retro che si coordini bene con i colori del tuo ricamo per un aspetto armonioso.

- **Cerniera Invisibile:** Se preferisci, puoi usare una cerniera invisibile per un aspetto più pulito e professionale.

DECORATIVE CUSHION

An interesting idea to finish a 30 x 30 cm cross-stitch embroidery is to transform it into a 40 x 40 cm decorative cushion. Here is a detailed description of the process:

**REQUIRED MATERIALS**

- 30 x 30 cm cross-stitch embroidery plus fabric margin (42 x 42 cm)

- Coordinating fabric for the back of the cushion (approximately 42 x 42 cm)

- Cushion padding (inner cushion)

- Zipper (approximately 30 cm)

- Fabric scissors

- Pins

- Sewing machine (or needle and thread if you prefer hand sewing)

- Iron

**DETAILED STEPS**

1. **Preparing the Embroidery**

   - Wash and iron the cross-stitch embroidery to ensure it is clean and wrinkle-free.

2. **Cutting the Fabric**

   - Cut the coordinating fabric for the back of the cushion into a 42 x 42 cm square. This will give you a 6 cm seam allowance on each side.

   - If you want a narrower border around the embroidery, you can cut the fabric smaller.

3. **Sewing the Zipper**

   - Place the zipper on the bottom side of the embroidery, with the teeth facing down and aligned with the edge of the fabric. Pin the zipper in place.

   - Sew it by machine or hand along both sides of the zipper, ensuring it is securely attached.

(Small tip, I always mark the center of both the fabrics and the zipper and then match them up😉)

4. **Assembling the Cushion**

   - Place the embroidery and the fabric for the back of the cushion with the right sides facing inward, so the zipper is aligned with the bottom edge.

   - Pin the sides of the cushion together, leaving the zipper half-open to turn the cushion right side out once sewn.

5. **Sewing the Edges**

   - Sew the remaining three sides of the cushion (left, top, and right) with a 1 cm seam allowance. Use straight stitches and reinforce the corners by stitching twice.

   - Trim the excess fabric at the corners to reduce bulk.

6. **Finishing and Stuffing**

   - Turn the cushion right side out through the zipper opening.

   - Insert the padding or inner cushion through the open zipper, ensuring it fits well into the corners.

7. **Final Ironing**

   - Lightly iron it to remove any wrinkles and give a clean, professional look.

**FINAL TIPS**

- **Additional Decorations:** You can add ribbons, lace, or other decorative elements around the edge of the embroidery for a personal touch.

- **Color Coordination:** Choose a fabric for the back that coordinates well with the colors of your embroidery for a harmonious look.
